Our second hatchery production well project breaks ground today. Pacific Pumps & Water Systems is working along with excavation experts AAA Peninsula Septic Tank Services Ltd on an addition to our groundwater system. This project is designed to make our water supply more resilient in the face of climate change. If our summers continue to be hot and dry we will require the well water to augment our natural supply of Chapman Creek water. The groundwater is mixed with our river water to help balance the temperature for the fish, cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This enables our Hatchery Manager, Bill, to control the growth rate of the fish to ensure they are at their strongest when we release them into the river and they swim to the sea.
