All salmon are released directly into Chapman Creek, where they will migrate downstream to the ocean. To release the juvenile salmon, they are crowded in their rearing container with a seine net by our staff and volunteers, they are then netted into either buckets filled with some water to walk them to the creek or they are directly netted into a transport hose via a hopper partially filled with running water that will get them to the creek.
“Brood year” meaning – this is the specific year that the juvenile’s parents returned to spawn.
