Release Season 2007

This year we tried a night release. As you can see in the pictures our hardy band of volunteers and staff came out on a dark and stormy night to release 40,000 chinook salmon.  We are hoping it gives them a better chance against the predators.

On the fifth of May, we invited the public to come and help us release a bunch more.  As you can see in the album we had an enthusiastic crowd of "volunteers."

On the tenth of May we moved 20,000 coho to a net pen in Halfmoon Bay.  They will be held there for ten days to imprint on that water and then released.  This way, they will return to Halfmoon Bay to spawn.

Release The Salmon Day is where we say goodbye to last year's fish!

2007 Fry Release Day will be held in May, 2007.  The public is welcome to come and participate in the release of some 50,000 coho and chinook salmon.  Hot dogs, smokies and refreshments will be on sale.

There is fish feed available for those who want to give the newest inhabitants a good start in life.  Society volunteers are on hand to answer questions and conduct tours.  Coffee is served by donation.   Local organizations are invited to set up information booths as well.

 Admission is free.
We are having a salmon release day on the fourth of May at the Chapman Creek Hatchery.
The event will last from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM
Folks are invited to come to the Hatchery and help say good-bye to 2008 Coho and Chinook graduates.
